Here at Pet Ki Do, we work with people and their pets to reduce stress and improve behavior and well-being using the Tellington TTouch Method (or simply "TTouch") and humane, scientifically supported, positive dog-training techniques. Through group workshops and private, in-home training sessions, we help pet professionals and guardians address diverse behavioral and stage-of-life (puppyhood, adolescence, and aging) concerns. One of our abiding special interests is helping shy, cautious, or fearful puppies and dogs gain confidence, resilience, and trust in their environments.
TTouch is a gentle yet effective method of working with animals to relieve stress, increase body awareness, build confidence, and reduce or eliminate unwanted behaviors. It is a quietly powerful, "no force, no fear" method that includes light touches, various body wraps, and experiential groundwork activities. These non-habitual activities engage the central nervous system in new ways. In many cases, immediate changes in behavior, posture, or overall attitude are obvious, as animals become visibly more comfortable, confident, or calm, and better able to respond to their environment rather than simply react to it.
TTouch frequently addresses the issues that traditional training can leave unanswered. It can help animals overcome gait or balance issues, learn to “settle” themselves at home or in a variety of stimulating situations, and gain confidence. TTouch can help an older animal find a greater degree of comfort, and a younger animal achieve a calm focus. It is also an excellent way to help animals overcome specific or generalized fears and become more resilient in any type of stressful situation.
Perhaps most importantly, the techniques and approaches you will learn will help you understand your dog's behavior better and build a stronger relationship with your pet, ultimately creating a more comfortable living situation for all members of your household.
